The present sheet then entered the collection of some two hundred drawings, of various schools, assembled by the German-born collector Curtis O. Baer (1898-1976). Most of Baer’s drawings were acquired after the Second World War, mainly between 1950 and 1960, and several sheets are today in the collection of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
