Previously attributed to the Bolognese artist Bartolomeo Schedoni (1578-1615), it has recently been pointed out that this drawing is by the 17th century Florentine painter Lorenzo Lippi. The drawing is a study for a seated young girl in one of the spandrels beneath Lippi’s fresco of The Crowning of the Virgin, painted in 1643 for the ceiling of the Cappella Ardinghelli in the church of San Michele e Gaetano in Florence.
