This oil sketch was included in the retrospective exhibition of the work of Erich Wolfsfeld held at the Derby Art Gallery in 1953, three years before the artist’s death. The exhibition included a total of 163 paintings, drawings and etchings by the artist, dating from as early as 1913.
Among the contents of the artist’s studio at his death, and thence by descent to his stepson, Dr. Max Block, Mossley Hill, Liverpool, until 2009.
