The town of Neuenhaus, in the county (Grafschaft) of Bentheim in Lower Saxony, is on the modern-day border between Germany and Holland. Brondgeest seems to have spent some time there, as a number of drawings of sites in the vicinity have survived.

Among stylistically comparable drawings by Brondgeest is a View of a Country House, formerly in the collection of Saam Nijstad and Lily Nijstad-Einhorn in The Hague and sold at auction in Amsterdam in 2004. Also similar is a large drawing of Castle Doorwerth, near Arnhem, once in the collection of Hans van Leeuwen and sold at auction in 1999.

Iohan Quirijn van Regteren Altena, Amsterdam (his posthumous sale stamp [Lugt 4617] stamped on the verso)
Thence by descent.
