ENQUIRE

Tamara da Lempicka’s studies of female nudes were strongly influenced by the figure style of her teacher André Lhote. Datable to around 1923, the present sheet may have been drawn from a posed model in Lhote’s studio on the rue de Départ in Paris. The drawing may tentatively be related to a small painting of a similarly posed female nude, also seen from below and wearing a necklace, in a private collection.
