Inscribed Flaminio Torri and numbered 38 in on the former mount.

Similar heads appear in a number of paintings by Flaminio Torre, such as a Holy Family in the convent of San Giuseppe in Bologna, and another depiction of the same subject in a Bolognese private collection.
