• 2017 Tiepolo Drawings Catalogue

Our summer 2017 catalogue, Master Draughtsmen of the Venetian Settecento: Drawings by Giambattista and Domenico Tiepolo, is now available. The catalogue includes a total of 22 drawings by the 18th century Venetian artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolo (1686-1770) and his son Giovanni Domenico (1727-1804), both of whom were among the finest draughtsmen of the period. The drawings range in date from one of Giambattista’s largest and most significant early works, from the late 1720s or early 1730s, to three superb drawings from Domenico’s ‘Large Biblical Series’, which were executed in the 1790s. Tiepolo drawings have long been admired and sought after by collectors and connoisseurs, and the drawings in this catalogue display the breadth of each artist’s drawn oeuvre, including figure studies for ceilings, caricatures, chalk drawings of heads or drapery, landscape and animal studies, and finished drawings intended for sale. Many of the drawings in this catalogue have not been previously exhibited, and several are published for the first time. The catalogue is available from the gallery priced at £30.00, including postage.
